The Board of Directors and the Advisory Board of FWB Children’s Home met Saturday, September 26th at 9:00 a.m. Chairman Rodney Yerby led the meeting and reported the establishment of the Carlton Lambert Endowment with the FWB Foundation. He stated the By-laws for the Board have been completed and will be presented to the State Executive Committee. He further reported a new domain for the Home has been set up, www.fwbhome.org.
The Chairman summarized the priority long term goals and vision of the Home:
1) 1. Develop a transition program to assist High School graduates
2) 2. Fill the cottages to capacity (38 children after license change)
3) 3. Find ways to retain children who need to stay
4) 4. Provide a place for house parents to have time off
5) 5. Determine how to minister to the guardian/parents of the children
Executive Director Mike Corley reported the completion of several actions:
1) 1. Enhancing security with a new security system, rekeying locks, and new filing cabinets

policy. Children
will be allowed
to go home the
week of July 4th
and the week of
Christmas.
Family
members may visit at the Home on the first
Sunday of the
month (2 to 4
p.m.) and the
third Saturday
(10 a.m. to 2
p.m.)
A revised budget of $722,000 for the year of 2010 was approved. This budget reflects no raises or bonuses for the staff and a cut in retirement contributions. The board instructed the Executive Director to reinstate these if income exceeds projections.
The Board also approved giving the Executive Director authority to exceed any budget line by up to 10% as long as the bottom line is not exceeded. The Chairman is likewise authorized an additional 10% with Board notification.
In other action, disability insurance for the staff was approved. The Executive Director’s utilities were approved to be paid by the Home. The site plan submitted by the committee was adopted. The minutes from the last meeting were approved.
